Two of the crew of the British barque Stillwater named Hubbard and Dyer, the latter of whom was one of the complainants in the case which was heard in the Marine Court on Wednesday last, appeared at the Police Court this morning, on a staminona, to answer a charge of assault, proferred against them hy, Andrew McCord, steward of the same veand. Mr Caldwell, from the

ofice of Messrs Brereton & Wotton, ap peared for the complainant, and applied for a ramand, in order to have the witnesses for the defence on shore when the case was being tried. The application was acceded to by the Magistrate, H G. Thomsolt, Eng., who remanded the case until Monday morning, personal bail being allowed enck of the accused in the sum of 820. PRIVATE advices from Singapore state that Mr Lewis James Fraser, senior partner in the firm of Maclaine, Fraser & Co., which recently suspended payment for $35,000, is charged under the section of the Penal Cođe which deals with cheating. No was arrested at the instance of two of the Banks, and after being brought bofore the Magis trate once or twice, was allowed bail in

$25,000. Only the first day's preliminary examination had been made up to the date of these advices, and nothing definite was known as to the specific charges which tho Banks allege against him.
