The marching past was good, but the ground being on a slope it is not to be ex- picted it will reach the same perfection as on the level and extensive parade grounds of many of our military stations at home. A serles-of-field evolutione, curtailed-no doubt for want of space, were then gone through before the men were dismissed to their quarters. The parade was witnessed by a good sprinkling of the different nation- alities in Hongkong.

This couvention provides for a direct exchange of mails between the post office of Queensland on the one part, and the post office of Hongkong on the other part, com- prising letters, newspapers, prices current, book packets, and packets of samples origi. nating in the Australian Colonies, Tasmania and New Zealand, and addressed to Hong kongor to the Treaty Ports of China or Japan, er origliating in Hongkong or in the afore. sald Forts of China or Japan, and addressed to the Australian Colonies, Taxmania and New Zealand.
