THE 2500 ROBBERY,
Wong A-I; a hawker, and Fün A King, married woman, were charged by Inspector Lindsay with being concerned in the robbery of $500, the property of Father Vigano. Inspector Lindsay said that he bad a warrant to search the 1st floor of No, 42, East Street. He went there about 3 o'clock yesterday and searched the room, and the prisoners were apprehended in the room. He told defendante he had a warrant to search the room for money stolen from Father Vigano, and the 1st defendant said he know nothing about it. The Inspector searched the room in company with Chinese constable Peng A-hoi (No. 199). The first defendant was seen to drop some thing behind him which proved to be a piece of Chinese paper relating to a quantity of clothing. The paper was warm, as if it had bean in some one's mouth. A match-box was found in a drawer in a table and a one bundred dollar note, of the Chartered Mer- cantile Bank, No. 6708, was found. à num.

Bernard Vigano, sworn, stated that he was clergyman and lived at Wanghal. On the 9th Sept last, he lost a quantity of jewellery from his house, and subsequently recovered some of it, and on the 12th Sept. he lust five $100 notes. Ho reported the matter to the Police, and furnished them with the numbers of the notes. He believed that four notes had been recovered at Nam Tau. He did not know the defendants. He suspected that the notes were stolon by a boy who is in custody at Nam Tau. The boy was
