Seeing the unfriendly manner in which Chinese immigrants are now received in the United States and Australia, the question of Chinese immigration to Bri- tish Guiana and, possibly, the other West Indian Colonies certainly seems worth some consideration at the hands of those whom it may concern. British Guiana comprises an area of no less than 76,000 square miles. The soil is said to be densely covered with vegetation, and produces sugar, cotton, coffee, maize, wheat, cocoa, vanilla, tobacco, and oinna- mon. Dr Wharry deposed that he had examined

years. The face and head were purple and swollen; her face was smeared with soil and clay. Some of the soil was in the eyes, also inside the lips. The skin of the lips was broken inside. The eyes were swollen and protruding. The tongue was also swollen and protruding beyond the teeth. Round the neck were discovered having been tied round it. The palms of. discoloured lines, as if caused by a knot the hands were slightly smeared with scil. Some was in each of the nails; on the abdomen there was place smeared, as also on one of the knees. There were no marks of violence on the body externally. The witness then described the injuries on the lower part of the deceased's body.
