(From the "Strasts Times," July 27, 1868,) Some time ago we had occasion to remark' upon the progress that Literature as repres seated by the Press had made and waa making in the East, and our attention bas again ben lied to the subject by the rus ogipt of a Hongkong: publication which deserves some notice and which we bare much pleasure in introducing to the know- ledge of our readers. We aliade to Notes and Queries on thias and Japan, published monealy by Mir Saint, the proprietor of tha China diail newspaper. This publication
is well printed on good paper, and in size and shape is very like its well-known name suke or prototype at home, and is mine containing very curious

The publication is altogether a very in teresting one, and wishing it every accom, we commend it to the attention and apport of our readers.
