A NOTICE in the London and China Ex press gives the following, under the head of Latest Intelligence PorsuAL —— Major da Ponte e Horts, Governor of Macao, has been dismissed,"

WE have been placed in possession of copies of His Excellency the Governor'e

answer to the Chamber of Commerce on the subject of Gambling Licenses, with other documents on the same subject

We are unable to publish them in this issue, and both copy and comments must stand over until after the departure of the mail to-morrow.

· LOCAL

We understand that fresh informations have been laid against some of the parts who were recently discharged at the June Cri- Binal Sessions of the Supreme Court,

on account of a nolle prosequi being entered by the Attorney General, aria-

ing from the fact that the notions of trial served on the prisoners were in formal. We are glad to notice that jus tice will have an opportunity of being vindicated whether the result be an sequit

tal or conviction.

THE "DONNAT" MURDER.

WE are glad to learn that the Ader color- od man named Kayroollah, against whom a warrant was issued some time ago, has bean arrested to-day by the Pulice. It is said that he has been running over the Hills since his escape from the scene of the mur- der at Abardees; and as it was believed that he was lurking about Kowloong, this explains the delay of his apprehension. At the Donnal left with the Europe mails this morning, and the witnesses are on board of that vessel, we presume that the prisoner will be remanded until her return.
