Government launches the non-legislative Wage Protection Movement for cleaning workers and security guards. Under the scheme, participating entities undertake to, among other things, pay these workers wages not lower than the relevant market average wages.
The Smoking (Public Health) (Amendment) Bill 2005 passes into law. Starting on January 1, 2007, smoking will not be allowed in most indoor areas of workplaces and public places, such as restaurants, bars, offices, schools, hospitals and markets.
