APPRENTICE TRAINING
KMB first established a Technical Training Programme in 1973. This programme is now one of the most respected automotive courses available in Hong Kong. The standards achieved at the training school are consistently high, this year two of our apprentices were awarded the 1st and 2nd Runner-Up in the 1994 Best Apprentice Competition held by the Vocational Training Council. KMB honours its apprentices by holding an annual graduation ceremony.
AWARD TO STAFF MEMBERS
As a token of the Company's appreciation of outstanding performance and long service of its staff members, the following awards were presented to staff members in 1994:-
LONG SERVICE AWARD
Long Service Awards were made to 117 staff members with 30 years' service and to 1,743 staff members with 20 years' service.
LOYAL SERVICE AWARD
124 bus captains were commended with the Loyal Service Award for their exemplary performance, particularly in handling lost property, assisting in putting out fires, preventing bus vandalism, identifying short payment of bus fares, etc..
SAFE DRIVING AWARD
During the year, one bus captain received the safe driving award for 25 years of accident free service, 13 bus captains received 10 years accident free awards and 155 bus captains received 5 years accident free awards.
STAFF WELFARE AND ACTIVITIES
To care for the health of staff, the Company runs two clinics to provide outpatient medical service to all levels of staff free of charge. Staff members are also protected by a Hospitalisation Insurance Scheme to ease their financial burden in times of illness. They may also choose to enrol their dependants in the scheme at a discounted premium rate. A Personal Accident Insurance Plan on a voluntary-contribution basis is also available for the staff and their dependants to protect them in case of accident. Cash grants and loans are available for staff members who need to meet unexpected and urgent financial needs. A quarterly in-house magazine, "KMB Today", containing news and events concerning KMB staff, is distributed to all employees.
