attitude of bus captains toward passengers.
These improvement measures will definitely
improve KMB's image and attract more passengers to ride on KMB buses.
In recent years it has been the Government's policy to introduce Residents' Services to ease peak hour demand in housing estates. As these are not operated by KMB, they are carrying passengers most of whom would otherwise have been carried by KMB buses. There were a total of 28 Residents' Services in Kowloon and the New Territories at the end of 1990, and more are
expected to be approved by the Government.
Another new development on the public
transport scene was the Government's recent decision to grant some new bus routes by tender. Since to date we have been unable
to obtain details of the Government's
decision, we are waiting to see the terms and
conditions for the first tendered route.
As the policies to introduce Residents'
Services and the tendered routes will affect the scope of KMB's expansion, the Company has lodged strong objections to the Government plan. KMB is of the view that the Company is well capable of supplying a full service on its
own.
As in the past, KMB is confident of being able to continue to provide a reliable, comfortable and safe bus service to the public in the years to come.
DIRECTORS
Under the Public Bus Services Ordinance, the persons holding the positions of Commissioner for Transport and Deputy Secretary for Transport (Transport Services) are appointed by the Governor to sit on our Board .
近年來,政府之政策為引入住戶專用
巴士服務以舒緩屋邨內繁忙時間之 需求。此等巴士並非由九巴經營,而其
乘客大部份可能原屬九巴之乘客。 一九九零年底,九龍及新界共有二十八條
住戶專用巴士線,預期政府將批准開設
更多此類型巴士線。
公共運輸之另一項新發展為政府最近
决定招標開辦若干新巴士路線。由於截至
現時為止未能獲得此項政府决策之詳情,
本公司正期待知悉首條招標路線之經營條
款及條件。
由於引入住戶專用巴士服務及招標開辦
新路線會影響九巴之發展範圍,本公司
已對政府之計劃提出强烈反對。九巴認爲
其本身有足夠能力提供全面性之服務。
一如以往,九巴有信心在來年繼續為
廣大市民提供可靠,舒適及安全之巴士
服務。
董事會
根據「公共巴士服務條例」規定,在任之
運輸署署長及副運輸司(運輸服務)由
港督委任為本公司董事。
