36. The ground surrounding every Mode A store shall be cleared of bushes, grass, and other vegetation to a distance sufficient, in the opinion of the Licensing Authority, to minimise the risk of the spread of fire.

37. The licensee of every Mode A store shall, on the first day of each month during the currency of his licence, furnish to the Licensing Authority and to the Chief Officer of the Fire Brigade particulars of the nature and quantity of the explosives stored in the store.

38. Due precautions shall be taken to exclude water from every store in which is stored any explosive liable to be dangerously affected by water.

39. Due precautions shall be taken by every person in charge of or employed in any store to prevent—

(a) accidents by fire or explosion,

(b) any act which tends to cause fire or explosion and which is not reasonably necessary for the purpose of work in the store, and

40. Any accident in any store shall be immediately reported to the Licensing Authority.

41. No store shall be open between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. during the period from the 1st October to the 31st March inclusive, or between the hours of 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. during the period from the 1st April to the 30th September inclusive.

42. Every explosive liable to deterioration shall be periodically inspected, and any explosive which has suffered deterioration or damage shall be immediately removed from the store and destroyed by some safe and suitable method.

43. No smoking or naked lights shall be permitted in or near any store.

44.--(1) Notices prohibiting smoking and the use of naked lights shall be prominently displayed at the store.

(2) Such notices shall be in English and Chinese.

45. The Licensing Authority may, in his discretion, give directions, which shall be complied with by the licensee, in relation to the method of storage of any explosive in any

store.

46. Every application for the renewal of any licence shall be made not less than one month before the expiration of the then current licence.

47. The explosives in each of the following groups may be kept together in one building or receptacle, but explosives in different groups must be in separate receptacles or must be so separated by intervening partitions as to prevent explo- sion or fire communicating from one to the other :-
