Box holders must clear their boxes regularly and in the event of absence from the Colony or inability to clear for any reason they should appoint an agent to clear the box; provide him with a signed authority for a stated period and notify the Postmaster General of his identity and the period so covered.
All changes of private or business addresses of Box holders should be notified to the Postmaster General.
Registered articles and parcels: The presentation of a registered letter or parcel delivery advice slip withdrawn from a private box is regarded as equivalent to an authority from the addressee for the person presenting it to receive the registered letter or the parcel to which the advice slip relates. Renters should, therefore, take care that private box keys are not accessible to unauthorized persons.
PRIVATE POST OFFICE BAGS
A private bag may be used for the posting and receipt of correspondence. The bag, which must be conveyed by the user or his agent, is locked at the post office before it is handed over. The bag and key must be supplied by the user and the bag must be so constructed that when locked its contents are secure against tampering.
Rental Charges: The annual charge is $36. The initial minimum period is twelve months and is renewable (a) for twelve months, or (b) for three months at a time on payment of one quarter of the annual charge. Each portion of three months is reckoned as a full three months. No refund will be made in respect of services surrendered before date of expiry.
Provision of Bags: The user must provide two bags with a lock and two keys; the bags must be of a type approved by the Postmaster General, and it may be used for delivery, posting or both., Delivery bag holders must have a P.O. Box number to which their correspondence is addressed.
Collection and Delivery: The service may be used for collection or delivery, or both. If used for both purposes a double charge will be made.
Registered Correspondence: Registered articles for posting may be sent in the bag to the post office and the relative posting receipts will be duly returned; registered articles and parcels for delivery will be advised to the bag user by means of the delivery receipts which will be sent for signature. When these are signed the articles will be enclosed in the returned bag. The foregoing conditions may at any time be augmented or revised, as the Postmaster General may from time to time deem expedient, by due notification; and any such addition or revision shall apply to every box or bag rented under the foregoing conditions. The renter will accept a lease under these conditions and will forfeit all rights by non-compliance or failure to carry out all or any of the rules set out. He will be held responsible for their observance and no other person will be recognized in connexion therewith.
