H.M. ARMY, R.A.F., COMMONWEALTH AND ALLIED FORCES SERVING ABROAD
GENERAL CONDITIONS
Correspondence and parcels for service personnel abroad and those on H.M. Ships are subject to the general conditions applicable to the overseas post.
The following services are provided for the benefit of persons not entitled to use the Forces Postal Services, there are no concessional rates.
Forces personnel and others entitled to obtain concession rates should apply to the Army Post Office, Chatham Road, Kowloon, or the Fleet Mail Office, H.M.S. Tamar. Such concession rates only apply to particular destinations.
METHOD OF ADDRESS
The address of all correspondence and parcels intended for members of H.M. Army and Royal Air Force serving abroad should in general include the following particulars in the order shown:-
1. Army or Air Force number (in the case of Other Ranks only), Rank, Name. 2. Squadron, battery, company or other section of the unit.
3. Designation of unit in full.
4. The words Royal Air Force in the case of an Air Force address.
5. The name of the particular Force in which serving, for example B.A.0.R, or British Forces Post Office (followed by a number) or, where a Force address has not been adopted, the name of the place and country of destination.

Every letter or parcel should bear on the outside the sender's name and address preceded by the word FROM or SENDER. These particulars must be kept distinct from the name and address of the addressee. On a letter they should preferably be written on the back of the envelope near the top, and on a parcel to the left of, and at right, angles to, the name and address of the addressee.
LIMITS OF SIZE AND WEIGHT
The limits of size and weight for all items except parcels, are those for Common- wealth destinations. The maximum weight for parcels for a Forces address is 22 lb. Where a civil form of address is used, the limit of weight is that appropriate to the country of destination, see Section II of this Guide.
