Telecommunication Licences

23. Revenue from licensing totalled $1,082,234 as compared with $3,327,169 the previous year. The reduction was due to the abolition of Broadcast Television Receiving Licences, both Domestic and General, which was effective from 1st April, 1972. The revenue collected on the various types of licence remaining in force is shown in Appendix VIII.

25. 131,751 First Day Covers were sold for the Cross Harbour Tunnel, 120,401 for the Royal Silver Wedding and 121,681 for the Lunar New Year 1973 issues-a total of 373,833 covers. This com- pares with a total of 293,944 First Day Covers sold for the three commemorative postage stamp issues in 1971-72.

Christmas Aerogrammes

26. A new Christmas aerogramme form designed by an artist of the Information Services Department was placed on sale in November and nearly 100,000 forms were sold.

Private Boxes

27. The demand for private boxes still exceeds the available supply and waiting lists are maintained. The income from rentals of private boxes and bag services was $831,631, an increase of $30,269 over the preceding year.

Remittance Services

28. The unsettled international monetary situation which on occa- sions caused foreign exchange markets to close led to the suspension of the overseas remittance services for three separate periods totalling 24 days. There was in consequence a slight decrease in the total
