103. One of the most successful events of the year was the Christmas party organized for children of members of the staff. This was held at the Club Pavilion, on the 2nd of January, 1955, and some 250 children attended. Refreshments were provided and a present was given to each from the Christmas tree by Father Christmas. Much amusement was also provided by a display of conjuring, in which the children took part, and by stories told by Aunty Lau Wai King of Rediffusion.
104. Launch Trips. A few launch bathing parties took place and were greatly enjoyed by those who went on them.
105. Sport. A team was entered in the Colony's Tennis League (C. Division), and although not meeting with a great deal of success, the matches were very much enjoyed by those who participated in them. A swimming team was also or- ganized and again, although they did not annex any prizes, the members of the team acquitted themselves in a good sporting manner.
106. The annual table tennis competition for the Saville Cup attracted a large number of entries, and after the finals a scintillating display by the Colony's table tennis champions was witnessed. The Post Office Recreation Club greatly ap- preciated this gesture by the Colony players.
107. A new competition was introduced during the year. This was a seven a side miniature soccer championship for competition between various Departments of the Post Office. The shield was presented for the competition by Mr. R. Hogarth, Controller of Posts, and was called the Hogarth Shield. The competition was most enthusistically supported and as the final was between a team from Kowloon and one from Victoria it attracted a large following from both sides.
108. Education. Postal training classes for clerks and the uniformed staff continued throughout the year, and although they were on a voluntary basis they were very well attended,
