Mr Stuart (H K & I O D)
MAGISTRATES AND JUDGES IN HONG KONG
1.
I think you are aware that, short of my going to Hong Kong (and I see no likelihood of that in the near future), I am unlikely to see the new Chief Justice until the summer.
2. I have, however, arranged to see Mr Oliver, the Registrar of the High Court in Hong Kong, who is at present on leave in London, this Friday. Usually the Registrar has a general charge, under the Chief Justice, with regard to magistrates and I would expect him to be able to tell us fully of any deficiencies in recruits and to discuss with him the prospects of improving the recruiting position.
