LIFTING DEVICE

Table Formwork Moved in Level Position

A TABLE formwork lifting device which enables complete, ready-as- sembled formwork tables to be moved safely and quickly is now available from SGB Building Equipment Division, Willow Lane, Mitcham, Surrey, UK.

The SGB Portaform, has been de- signed to eliminate the dangers as- sociated with moving formwork tables with slings and chains. It minimises manhandling and reduces crane time.

Constructed from lightweight tubular steel in a range of sizes, it engages and locks beneath the deck of the formwork table, enabling the table to be withdrawn and moved to its required position without the need for special slings. Counter balance springs hold the Portaform level when

SGB Portaform entering the table and ensure that the table remains perfectly level and balanced throughout the entire mov- ing operation.

Agents include: Scaffolding (Malaysia) Ltd., Singapore, and Lox- ley (Bangkok) Ltd., Bangkok. The makers are negotiating to establish an agency in Hong Kong.

CHIPPING HAMMERS

Three New Tools Added

to Thor Range

THREE new air operated cement chipping hammers have been added to the range made by Thor Power Tool Co., 175 State Street, Aurora, III., USA.

These are

1, 2 and 4in. stroke tools, all weighing under 171⁄4 lb. and measuring less than 20in. in length. An air cushion design with two-step piston eliminates the shock and stress of the piston striking the bridge.

The hammers are equipped with a

LIFT TRUCK

Heavy Duty Vehicle with Power Steering

AN 18,000 lb capacity lift truck with two-wheel drive and wide-profile tyres for rough-terrain has been in- troduced by the Industrial Truck Division of Clark Equipment Co., Battle Creek, Mich., USA.

The truck, designated the CHY 180 WP, has a heavy-duty power train. To provide a short turning radius and low maintenance, it eliminates the extra drive line and driving- steering axle required by four-wheel- drive units.

Single, 23 x 21 drive tyres (16 ply) and 15 x 22.5 steer tyres (14 ply) are fitted, and the transmission gives five speeds forward and reverse. The ma- chine travels up to 16.7 m.p.h. load- ed, lifts at 84 f.p.m. loaded, and low-

ers at 60 f.p.m. loaded and 80 f.p.m. empty.

The power unit is a Hercules JXLD, 126 h.p. six-cylinder petrol ог LP-gas engine. Power steering with mechanical linkage to maintain control in event of power failure and vacuum-power-operated brakes with 16 in. diameter lining are provided.

The machine is 1934 in. long to face of forks and 954 in. wide, with a 179 in. outside turning radius. Maximum height with standard up- right and forks raised is 2851⁄2 in.

Clark agents are: Pacific Engineer- ing, Ltd., Kuala Lumpur: United Ser- vices Corporation, Manila: William Hunt and Co., Ltd., Hong Kong and Thep Viat, Bangkok. The Far East representative is John E. Hyde, Hong Kong.

TROWEL

Finishes II sq. ft. per Revolution

A LIGHTWEIGHT 46in. diameter troweling machine, the Stow Model G46D, will finish 11 sq. ft. per re- volution. Yet, being lighter than pre- vious models, it can be put on the slab sooner after the concrete is struck off.

The G46D may be three-bladed or four-bladed. The float blades are 10in. x 18in. and the finish blades are 6in. x 18in. A rugged gearbox and an aluminium spider block are

fitted. The four-blade machine weighs 168 lb. and the three-blade 160 lb.

A sliding-sheeve type clutch stops the machine the instant the operator lets go of the handle, but without stopping the engine. The guard ring is stationary, allowing the operator to work right up to walls and other obstructions, and the machine is ad- ustable for height to suit the operator.

Stow Manufacturing Co., 443 State Street, Binghampton, New York, USA, are the makers. Their distribu- tors are: William Jacks Co. (Hong Kong) Ltd.; William Jacks Co. (Malaya) Ltd., Kuala Lumpur; Amon Trading Co., Manila: Term Engineer- ing Co., Ltd., Bangkok; The Fair Enterprises Co., Ltd., Taipei; and Sam Kang Moolsan Co., Ltd., Seoul.
