Typical tower floor

pedestrian covered walkway is provided along the front and a covered reserved carpark at the rear of the building.

Directly below the tower block is the main entrance to the building. Four high-speed lifts are installed off the entrance lobby and serve the whole tower block; two extend down to the basement levels.

Adjacent to the main entrance and in the centre of the building is the Airline's main booking office which has its separate entrance off the walk- way. It is approached across a bridge which spans over an ornamental re- flective pool.

The rest of the ground floor street space is occupied by two branch banks and a snack bar, while at the rear of the building are the air-cargo and despatch- ing offices of MSA. Other areas occu- pied by MSA offices are part of the first floor and the whole of the second floor in the podium, where the air- line's reservations department is locat- ed. A specially designed conveyor belt system is installed in this department.

Computers room

The computers room of the air- lines is also on the second floor. Here the floor beams are inverted to provide duct space for cables. A lightweight steel frame in the form of a 2 ft. x 2 ft. square waffle grid supported by a series of levelling jacks rests on top of the beams and removable floor panels are fitted into the grids and finished flush with the surrounding standard floor. The room is served by one of the zoned air-conditioning units for 24- hour operation.

On the third floor, which is the roof of the podium block, is the lecture theatrette at the north end, linked to the base of the tower at the south end by a covered walkway flanked by a landscaped garden and fountain pool.

The theatrette was designed as a self-contained unit with ancillary amen- ities such as air-conditioned cocktail lounge and a kitchenette to cater for small receptions in conjunction with the use of the theatrette. Seating capacity is 124, and cinematic and sound systems are installed. An attach- ed lounge adjoins a large open terrace with a panoramic view of the harbour.

Under the tower block at the podium roof garden level are the air- line's boardroom and the chairman's suite, while on the floor above is the general manager's suite together with two conference rooms. Both these floors are set back from the typical tower floor.
