be renewed below their level and limited damage will not necessitate the redecoration of whole wall areas.

Floors and window sills are Mastipave. 'Blackboards' are dark green Colorbord. External finishes are fair face concrete for the cross walls and rough textured plaster elsewhere, with quarry tile copings, sills and access balconies.

The main stair block has Sin. con- crete walls throughout. Each floor contains the main stair, lift, children's toilets and store, and a gathering area widening out towards the classrooms. On the upper floors this block con- tains a food preparation room, ser- vants' quarters for the flats, water tanks and lift machine room.

The assembly hall, like the class- room block, is covered by an upswept butterfly roof with a deep overhang. Portal frames support the roof, with intermediate columns for the main floor.

Access is by cantilevered gangway, tapering towards the stage to fit in with the circulation pattern and the shape of the site. This reduces the volume of the hall but improves its acoustics and gives access for cleaning the upper windows.
