Besides these. in addition to several smaller washers, extractors and tum- blers, there are more than 24 special- ly shaped compressed air operated steam presses for dealing with uniforms and other laundry items.
To save much heavy manual work and to step up the output, electrical overhead lifting hoists and floor feeder belt conveyors are also being installed in order to achieve the target output of at least one ton per hour.
Automatic controls will operate the following plumbing systems which will be installed in the basement: re-use of final clean rinse water for the first wash or dirty laundry, soap. alkali. acid. starch and bleach. Separate provision independent of the main hospital services is being made for cold water, calorifiers and drainage.

Linen
An area of about 9,000 square feet quite separate from the main laundry and clean linen stores has been provided for the making and repair storage or disposal of items of linen. bedding and uniforms.
Maintenance & Repairs
A workshop area of about 3.000 square feet has been provided for making or repairing minor electrical. metal plumbing and woodwork items.
Spray painting can also be carried out in this area which includes lock up stores for essential spare parts.
PHYSIOTHERAPY AND OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
As separate low level wing houses, these sub-departments which though mainly serving in and out patients also provide special facilities for training student physiotherapists.
