MEDIUM-SIZED BUILDING

high. Cooking will be by kerosene
stove.
So that, on this small site will rise in the place of two medium sized houses, compact accommodation for 28 simple families, plus two shops.
Construction is in reinforced con- crete with strength calculated to take sufficient wind stress to avoid over- stressing the foundations.
The scavenging lane which runs at the rear of the block is at a level above that of the first floor. The physical body of the retaining wall is integrated into the structure of the building, directing the active soil pressure to act against the dead weight of the building resulting in a more economical wall section than by using conventional methods.
