A direct result of this was the interesting and variable roof line and the form of the plan itself. The architect has tried to make the house nestle into the hill and follow its shape, with a high degree of success.
The accommodation is rather loosely linked and the internal planning has made it possible to have larger rooms than normal. Slightly different floor levels serve to separate the functions of the various elements of the plan.
The dining room has a bay window to the south, direct access to a bar, and a serving hatch to the kitchen. An enclosed verandah acts as a link between the living room and dining room, but it can be com- pletely shut off from both of them by means of folding doors. A long and com- fortable built-in seat extends the length of the south wall under the window. There is a bar in this verandah, complete with sink and other equipment and this occupies that space under the staircase, which is otherwise often wasted.

On the first floor are the two principal bedrooms. The master bedroom and its large adjoining dressing room at present form one large room. At some future date, if the family resident in the house should have children and the dressing room is required to accommodate them, à cupboard wall will be built between the two rooms. A very nice verandah separ- ates, and is shared by, the two bedrooms. In the second of these, although for the sake of privacy, no windows were provided in the east wall, more than sufficient light is obtained from the bay window in the south wall and from the high level tran- soms over the cupboard wall and door separating the bedroom from the verandah.
The service rooms and servant quarters are completely independent from the main building in a single- storeyed wing to the east, partly above the garage. They have their own entrance steps and covered yard,
