a
He mentioned that the membership of the Association would cost minimum of $2 a year a person and this. plus the increased costs and services given by the Society would probably result m an increase in subscriptions next year.
Before the end of the meeting Professor Gregory paid tribute to the outgoing president.
"Mr. Dovey". he said. "has been a member of the Society since 1958. He had been Hon. Secretary for 1959 and it was mainly due to his initiative during this period that the Society had prospered to such an extent. He has devoted more time and energy to the Society than any other person and now after two terms as President. he will be leaving the Colony with the knowledge that he is leaving behind a very flourishing Society."
In replying to the ovation given by all the members present. Mr. Dovey thanked everyone and said
Mr. Edward W. K. Lee
that he felt more conscious of the things he would have like to have done, rather than those things that had been done. He was glad to have helped in the propagation of architecture, even if it had been in an administrative capacity.
Mr. J.M. Fraser, echoing the feel- ing of many members present, said that the programme committee should be particularly congratulated for the many varied and interesting meetings arranged during the year, and also for the attractive manner in which the notices and typography of the Society had been presented.
Mr. Edward W. K. Lee was ap pointed president of the Hong Kong Society's council for 1964.
Other office bearers elected were-- hon, secretary. Mr. H. C. Astbury; hon. treasurer, Mr. Jackson C. S. Wong: council members Messrs M. A. Diserens, Stanley T. Kwok. R. J. Phillips. Edwin Wong, Faitfone Wong and Professor W. G. Gregory.
