The whole 132,000 square feet of building and the purchase and de- velopment of this 3-acre site has cost about £1m. in all. a not unrea- sonable sum to have produced this interesting work.

Architects for the Commonwealth Institute were Sir Robert Matthew. Johnson-Mitchell and Partners: en- gineers were A. J. and J. D. Harris: and the contractor was John Laing Construction.
