on the opposite side of the sunken service road and then out to the aircraft on the parking apron.
Arriving baggage is towed on trolleys by the same route from the aircraft to the Customs Hall at ground floor and is unloaded on to the inspection benches at the parti- cular channel allocated. The empty trolley is sent back up the conveyor to be ready for its return journey with Departing Baggage.
Transit passengers' lounge is located alongside the air side wait- ing hall. The room has a buffet counter which is served from the main airport restaurant kitchen by dumbwaiter.
In the future it is intended to provide more extensive transit faci- lities, including a nursery, barber shop and restrooms by the addition of a separate transit block on the N.E. of waiting hall. The initial transit space will then become an overflow waiting room.
The first stage of future exten- sions allows for extending the Visitors Hall and the addition of a separate Transit Lounge. The ultim ate development envisages the com- plete duplication of two floors of the passenger handling sections by adding four further customs chan. nels on the ground floor and the

corresponding baggage processing and Waiting Halls above.
V.I.P.'s. A separate entrance is provided on the south-west corner of the building so that V.I.P.'s can pass quickly from the air side to road side of the building.
Government allows V.I.P.s to arrive and depart without going personally through the various con- trols and formalities and two rooms with adjoining toilet facilities are provided where they can wait while baggage is weighed and checked.
There is a kitchen servery ad- jacent. The press are also provided with a room in the area where the representatives can wait until inter- views are permitted in the V.I.P.
rooms.
Clinic. A clinic operated by the Medical and Health Department with accommodation for medical officers, sterilizing and dressing rooms is located with its access and waiting space off the entrance to the office block.

Detention. A detention area with room for both female and male detainee for undersirable transients is provided.
Also on the ground floor are the main air conditioning plant room and electrical equipment rooms, the
airport garage, kitchen stores area, kitchen staff canteen and offices for the electrical and airport foreman. Living accommodation for the elec trical foreman and air conditioning foreman is located in a mezzanine above these offices.
The basement houses the airport main store, vehicle workshops and battery charging areas, gardens store and subsidiary air conditioning plant rooms.
There is a separate entrance at ground floor level for access to the office tower block which houses the airport control and administration, flight information services and air- line company offices.
The offices are served by two lifts from the main entrance: one travels to the fifth floor, the other to fourth floor only.
There is a third passenger lift centrally located which will provide connection between offices and the 1st floor waiting hall. It will travel to ground floor as a crew access lift so that crew can proceed from the briefing area on the fourth floor or an air line office to the air side waiting room.
The meteorological office on the S.W. end of the fourth floor has a projecting balcony from which offi- cers may make observations.
