Built just outside Sandakan town itself, this Girl Guide Hut was designed by architect Parker Kwan and has a slight Japanese influence, in that its long external walls are merely screens. Built by Tai Hing Contractors of Sandakan, the buil- ding was completed in late 1962. Its cost is difficult to ascertain as many of the items incorporated in the building were donated by local philanthropists.
