Provision of park- ing for cars was one of the main factors in determining the general planning of the new apartment block now going up on I.L. 1548, Conduit Road, Hong Kong, for the Long- worth Investment Co.

To provide parking space for residents' cars, the architect, Mr. Robert Fan, designed the block as a series of 15-foot hays, so that the clear space between pillars on the ground floor allows room for two cars to be parked. In all, with other parking bays at the rear, the eight bays, after allowing for the entrance lobby, will give room for 26 cars under cover to meet the requirements of the twenty-four flats.

Above this ground floor car park are twelve floors each containing two flats, designed to appeal to residents who have exacting ideas about ac- commodation. The central entrance lobby, faced in breccia Bottichino marble, serves all flats and has one lift for residents and another for service.

Each flat contains three bedrooms, two with their own bathrooms, a dining room, living room, balcony (8 feet by 30 feet), entrance lobby with guests' toilet, quarters for two servants, pantry, kitchen, larder and drying-room. Each bedroom has built- in wardrobes and there is another in the entrance lobby.

Preparation and washing up sinks are placed between the kitchen and pantry, so that they can be used from either room.

Access to the entrance lobby is from both living room and from the kitchen.
