The architect's impression of the Nassim Hill Flats and (left) the plan of the three blocks to be erected,
The perspective drawing shews the Government Architects impression of the flats about to be built at Nassim Hill for occupation by Government Officers. This is the first instalment of a comprehensive scheme to provide for the housing of Government Officers, and is the first time that the Government has provided accommodation of this type.
The flats, standing on high land with extensive views over the surrounding neighbourhood, have been generously planned, in spacious grounds, in one of the most attractive residential districts in Singapore. As may be seen from the site plan the lay-out has been arranged in three blocks of six flats per block, making a total of 18 self contained flat units. A certain amount of Garage accommodation has been provided to the main blocks, but additional garage and syce accommodation will be provided in small adjacent ancilliary blocks.
The general planning of the "units" has been based on the 'One Room' thick principle, so as to provide the maximum amount of through ventilation. The elevations are well proportioned and of a pleasing appearance.
Each flat is to be wired for a telephone and fitted with a 'built-in' aerial for radio.
