An Extraordinary General Meeting of the Royal a tradesmen's entrance, and a main entrance to the Club Hong Kong Golf Club was held at the Cathedral Hall on Friday, 10th March, at 5.30 p.m. to consider the question of proceeding with the building of a new Clubhouse at Fanling. At this meeting the necessary approval of the Members was obtained and steps were taken to proceed with the project.

It is estimated that the cost of the new building, with appropriate furniture, will amount to about $400,000.00, of which amount $92,000.00 has already accrued in the Club's Fanling Building fund. The Hong Kong & Shang- hai Bank have shown their confidence in the Club by- agreeing to advance money as required up to three lakhs at the rate of 5% per annum.

Arrangements will be made for the main part of the present Men's Club to be retained and in use till part of the new building is ready for occupation, so that accom- modation will be available continuously.

The new building will extend from just about the first tee of the Relief Course to a point just on, or beyond that of the Old Course. The latter tee will have to be moved some 20 yards towards the ladies' Club.

The approach will be on the north side and there will be entrances there, in the order of the approach, to the caddie master's shop, the men's or bachelor wing,

itself, and this gives access to the mixed wing at the west end. The building has a semi-basement, in which locker- room, drying rooms, store rooms, boiler rooms, kitchen and cold stores, and some of the servants' quarters are situated. The ground floor contains men's dressing room, men's lounge and bar, and men's dining room (from east to west) followed by the mixed lounge, and the mixed

dining room, and the ladies' room. To the north of this on the first floor, there are 29 single rooms for men, and one double. These have hot and cold water laid on, and shower baths and lavatories easily accessible. There are also service pantries and rooms for boot cleaning and other necessary services. Then comes a card room with a small verandah and a bar. West of this come 16 double bedrooms with their own bathrooms which are to be sup- plemented by two or three other "lavatories.'

The smallest of the single rooms (12) is 111⁄2 X 11 feet and the largest 131⁄2 X 10. There are ten of these and seven six inches smaller. All bedrooms throughout the Club are outside rooms. The double bedrooms (16) are between 13 X 12 and 191⁄2 X 12, exclusive of private bathrooms and entrance lobby. The roof is a flat one and is broken by the second floor which contains two private suites-bedrooms with their own sitting rooms and bathrooms. There is also an amah's room on this floor.
