CARRIER BOOM
J. I. Case Co., Racine, Wis., USA., have introduced a new CB70 carrier boom that can operate with any type of concrete pump, deliver concrete 60ft. or higher and can be controlled from either the truck or the concrete placer.
The unit is self-contained with its own pressurized water and air system, pipe, hose and accessories. When in
use, piping is run from a concrete placer to the base of the carrier boom. A permanent tube in the boom con- tinues the run of concrete upward. A transport line is then run from the end of the boom to the actual location where concrete must be placed.
Some 250 gallons of water is carried on board the machine, which has a pumping capacity of 28 cu. ft. per minute. The CB70 also has a 1,000 lb. capacity auxiliary lift line, front- bumper mounted 10-ton winch and trailer hitch to tow the trailer- mounted pump to the job site.
The carrier boom is powered by a 391 cu. in. V-8 petrol engine. It has a four-speed transmission and forward speeds to 70 m.p.h.
PILE DRIVER
A new pile-driving method, known as the Fuji MD, has been developed by Fuji Iron & Steel Co. Ltd., 10-1, 3-chome, Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. It incorporates a muffler at- tached to the diesel pile-driving ham mer to reduce noise.
The hammer is of the double-leader type with the hammer proper attached to the leader with the muffler device. The outside wall of the muffler com- prises glass wool packed between

asbestos boards and steel sheets.
Outside wall of the muffler and the cap of the device are of 'slide construc- tion', designed to prevent vibrations from the hammer being relayed to the outside wall. Two cooling fans are attached to the lower part of the muffler device.
The hammer will drive all kinds of piles, including pipe piles and sheet piling. It will also work at various angles.

see Like their colleagues in the Prestex range, these new fittings are made in a special way. And there's only one firm in the world that makes taps like this. Peglers. That's us. Peglers of Doncaster. What's our secret? It could be that we take more care over brass foundry than anyone else. Or that we chromium plate to almost twice the British Standards. Or perhaps that we're one of the largest makers of plumbing fittings in the world - and our techniques are as modern as our designs. Whatever it is, it enables us to make fine taps at ordinary prices. Rather than tell you our secrets, we'll sell you our fittings, and you get priority on delivery too. Just let us know you're interested-soon.
