necessary to import from overseas most of the machinery and sanitary fixtures, and those concerned with the rapid completion of the hotel suffered many frustrations from delayed ship- ping dates.
Theft and damage to materials stored on site created further pro- blems. Professional security guards were employed and, as the opening date neared, replacements for damaged equipment were flown in.
Structure
Despite all the hazards, the hotel was virtually completed on July 5, 1969, only five days later than sche- duled and within time to receive the first 300 hotel guests.
