DYNAPAC
Dynapac CH 60 vibratory roller
the centrifugal force not less than 38
tons.
Working on rock fill the roller gives a good compaction effect down to 2 m (7 ft). A large number of measurements after compaction work on rock fill in- dicate an average compaction of 15 cm (6 in.) surface settlement after six pas ses, corresponding to a settlement of 7.5 per cent. The roller achieves a prac- tical output of 1,600 cu.yd. per hour, given 2 m (7 ft) layer thickness and six passes.
The centrifugal force is generated by steel balls rotating at 1,500 r.p.m. in races incorporated in the ends of the drum. Thus the centrifugal force is transmitted directly to the drum with- out any strain on drum bearings.
The vibration drive shaft is power- ed through V-belt transmission and centrifugal clutch by a 110 h.p. diesel engine. The heavy drum casing is 45 mm (1%4 in.) thick and vibrates at high amplitude. The drum suspension is a combination of steel springs and rubber cushions.
LOADER
A single lever loader control that co-ordinates rollback, lift and dump to give a faster cycle of operations has been added to the 57 h.p. J.I. Case 450 Hydra-Levelling loader. Other new

10,380 lb. from ground line to 18 in. carry height or 5,000 lb. to full height. It incorporates mechanism that auto- matically returns the bucket to proper dig position after the load has been dumped.
The transmission provides one-hand full power shift, power shuttle, power steer and power turns, leaving the right hand free to manipulate the loader control. The bucket can be rolled back 41 degrees at ground line and 48 de- grees at carry position. For scraping and grading, it can be rolled forward as far as 110 degrees. Dump clearance at maximum height is 8 ft. 2 in.
J.I. Case Co., Racine, Wisconsin, are the makers. They have a subsidiary company in Hong Kong.
SCRAPER
An elevating scraper with self-load- the Construction Machinery Division of ing mechanism has been introduced by
Clark International Marketing, S.A., Benton Harbor, Michigan, USA.
Named the Michigan-Hancock Mo- del 110-14, it has a capacity of 14 cu.yd. and is powered by a 238 h.p. engine.
Positive ejection of material is made possible by use of a movable end gate which stops sticky material hanging up in the bowl. The elevator is 10ft. 10in.
features include overlapping track pads long and is powered by a hydraulic

and a new grille configuration to pro- tect the headlights.
The 1 cu.yd. loader has a 12,600 lb. SAE breakout force and can lift to
drive that eliminates bearings.
The tractor has nine speeds forward and four reverse. Top speed is 32 m.p.h. Load capacity is 34,000 lb. Gross weight of the combination with full load is 76,500 lb.

SKYLIFT
Available in 3000, 4000 and 5000 lb. capacities, the EF Skylift by Auto- matic Lift Truck, 149 West 87th Street, Chicago, Illinois, USA, is built around a compact chassis that affords easy ac- cessibility to all components.
Velvetronic solid-state controls pro- vide smooth, stepless acceleration and eliminate power loss through resistance. The heavy-duty drive unit utilizes a sili- cone insulated motor mounted horizon- tally to give a low centre of gravity.
The wide angle trail axle has a king pin mounting to provide easy, finger- tip steering. The entire axle is centre- pivoted to compensate for uneven floors.
Hydraulic brakes with a total of 96 sq. in. braking surface are self-adjust- ing. A parking brake acting on the

drive motor armature shaft is automa- tically applied when the operator leaves
the truck.
The Skylift has a truck speed up to 6.5 m.p.h. and lift speeds up to 63 fp.m. Operator safety devices are load
backrest and overhead canopy.
SELF-PRIMING PUMP
Designed for an output of 25 gal- lons per minute and capable of opera- ting against heads of up to 150 ft. of water, the new Gilmec 100/350 self-
priming pump has a maximum speed of 4000 rev/min.
The pump is available with a uni- versal mounting-stub to take a variety of flanges or with a shaft extension and a bracket for foot mounting. A hand-operated clutch and pulley unit has been specially designed for the pump.
The makers are Gilbert Gilkes & Gordon Ltd., Canal Iron Works, Ken- dal, Westmorland, U.K.
