PNK 5030 LM air tacker
Staples fired by the PNK 5030 air tacker are manufactured from fine- gauge wire, with leg lengths ranging from 12 to 32 mm and loaded in cohered strips. The magazine holds 200 staples.
Both machines are manufactured by Diter Haubold of Hannover, West Germany.
PIPE FITTING
A new fibreglass reinforced resin sewer fitting produced by Johns-Man- ville, Box JJMC-23, Murrary Hill Sta- tion, New York, is said to be lighter than any presently used for 8 in. asbes- tos-cement sewer pipe.
Made of moulded fibreglass rein- forced thermosetting resin (RTR), the new fitting has excellent impact resist- ance and is easy to handle. It has a Ring-Tite profile for sewer main and service connections.
The all bell RTR fitting, weighing 11 lb., incorporates a 6in. 90-degree

sweep bend outlet. The T/Y design enables one fitting to do the job of either the tee or wye branch with el- bow. Another feature is the thrust clamp, which eliminates the need to stake or block the plug in place during testing.
FASTENING DEVICE
A nail with a difference invented in Britain may start a minor revolution in the building industry. It makes a solid, immovable joint in any material that can be penetrated by a hammer-driven

nail; the material itself will fail before the device.
The nail is in two parts a hollow tube with a flange like the rim of a nailhead and slots at the other end, and a rod with a bullet-shaped end larger than the diameter of the tube. First the rod is driven in, then the tube is banged home by hammering the flanged end.
The tube rides over the rod and, as it does so, the slotted end is pressed open by the head of the nail, like a fan, biting into the surrounding con- crete or timber and anchoring the fast- ener solid.

Corners are interlocked and jointed by stainless steel screws fixing into in- tegral screw grooves and sealed against water. Continuous extruded plastics guides control lateral movement to prevent crabbing.
A cam-action catch opens on up- ward or downward movement and locks with a removeable key. Inter- locking meeting rails prevent operation of the catch from the outside. Integral finger pulls are included in horizontal sections to allow operation by hand or pole.
Windows can be made to any pro- portion and size to a maximum height of 6 ft. and width of 4ft. 6in. The makers are Gardiner Alumin Ltd.,
Wes- ton-super-Mare, UK.
ADHESIVES
The Adhesives and Allied Products Division of The Marley Floor Tile Co. Ltd., Beenham, Berks., UK, has launched two new adhesives products for the building industry.
One is a general purpose adhesive called All Bond, which is based on a plasticised polyvinyl acetate emulsion. It is useful in maintenance and making good, providing a good key on old plaster or concrete. It can also be used with asbestos, hardboard, ceramic tiles and plaster board.
The second product is Instant Fill- er, a white, smooth-textured filler which dries without shrinkage.

SLIDING WINDOW
Under test a new sliding window known as the Clifton has survived a simulated 60 years wear without its operation being impaired. It incor- porates many high performance fea- tures including double weather- stripping with polypropylene pile and extruded neoprene.
desk model electrostatic precipitator which cleans and recirculates the air. It filters down to less than .1 of a micron, eliminating some 80 per cent.
