tor and a geared winding handle. Rewinding is quick and simple.
Due to the patented cone-shaped construction of the dispenser, which is called the cablesafe, upon rotating the

winding handle, the cable feeds back and by gravitation self-coils to the shape fo the housing. The handle is geared for a complete re-wind and the extension socket does not revolve so that there is no need for main discon- nection when reeling and unreeling.
The Cablesafe is fully insulated, being constructed of tough, moulded polypropolene. The only metal part is the wind handle shaft.
HOUSING SYSTEM
Individual units of a multi-purpose modular housing system, designed and developed by a British firm, can be erected in two hours by two men, using only a screwdriver and a spanner. The designers believe the system has great potential in countries with ur- gent housing problems or in places where durable accommodation is need- ed in a hurry.
Walls and roof panels comprise an expanded pvc core between two rein- forced plastic laminates. The modules can be linked together by multiple corridor units to form integrated com- plexes.
Twelve components, edged with waterproof seals, are bolted together to form the hexagonal unit. Floor area is 150 sq. ft. and the weight is 650 lb. The shape and number of windows, doors and interior fittings can be moulded to requirements.
Dimensions of the basic module are: wall panels 7 ft. 3 in. square; maximum height 8 ft. 6 in.; maximum

distance between wall 13 ft.; door aperture 6 ft. x 30 in. The module can be knocked down into two crates 7 ft. 6 in. square by 18 in. deep.
Ready-moulded units are available. for sale, but the makers, Wight Plastics Ltd., Sandown, Isle of Wight, UK, are interested in establishing manufacture under licence overseas. They would pro- vide the necessary tooling and techni- cal know-how and advice on the use of local raw materials as far as possible.
SPRAYING UNIT
Continuous pressures of up to 300 p.s.i. are delivered by the EM350 Hydra- Spray, a lightweight electrically-driven spraying unit from Graco Geneva S.A., 11 Rue Butini, Geneva, Switzerland.
Unusually quiet in operation, the EM 350 is powered by 3/4 h.p. 220 V explosion-proof motor driving a re- ciprocating paint pump through oil- immersed cast alloy gears. Constant running of the pump and motor for continuous spraying are unnecessary; a built-in adjustable pressure controller, with sensor located at the outlet to the gun hose, stops the motor as maxi- mum pressure develops and restarts it

only when pressure drops to a mini- mum preset level. A thermal cut-out protects the motor.
The unit draws paint direct from the original container. So, for colour change the suction hose is simply lift- ed out, immersed in a pail of thinners and flushed through, then placed in the new colour drum. Delivery, which is variable, is continuous with spray tips up to 0.021 in. orifice.
The spray gun and 50 ft. nylon spray hose give the equipment a 100 ft. working range.
Graco's Hong Kong office is at 311 Caroline Mansion, 7 Yun Ping Road.
DOOR FURNITURE
The Millbrook suite of door furni- ture is particularly recommended for use in schools, libraries, hospitals and other public buildings. Made of silver- anodised aluminium, it consists of a lever, a knob, a matching range of four backplates, a circular rose, an escut- cheon and several door pulls in either a straight or cranked pattern.
The lever has an attractive, slim de- sign, tapering from a thicker shaft end to a flat return end, while the knob takes the form of a plain, flat circle, slightly flared on its outer edge. Both are unsprung, for use with standard Millbrook, locks and latches, and both use Microtite spindles to eliminate pull on backplates.
All backplates conform to a 1/8in. (3.2-mm) thickness and attach to the door surface by means of concealed slots, designed to engage with the ex- posed heads of two wood screws which have previously been located by means of a template. Fitting a lever or knob then locks each plate securely in place.
Overall dimensions for the four standard sizes are 150 mm square and 150 mm high by 50 mm wide for the two with keyholes, as compared with 50 mm high by 150 mm wide and 100 mm high by 50 mm wide for the two without.
Door pulls in the Millbrook range follow a simple design, becoming

thicker at the middle than at the ends to give a good grip. The two cranked versions (lower left in the photograph) measure 305 and 230 mm long, while the four straight pulls (lower right) in- clude these two sizes plus two shorter lengths: 152 and 107 mm.
The makers are Miller Morris & Brooker, Millbrook Works, 462 Bath Road, Slough, Bucks., UK.

MORTAR PUMP
A compact, multi-purpose pump that handles small concrete placement jobs has been introduced by Kyokuto Kaihatsu Kikai Kogyo Co. Ltd., 1-45, 6-chome, Koshienguchi, Nishinomiya, Hygoken, Japan. It is known as the Kyo- kuto-Challenge Squeez-Crete pump, model PC-50a.
With 2in. distribution lines, the unit has a pumping capacity of 6 cu.

metres per hour. The maximum pump- ing distance is 200 metres horizontally or 50 meters vertically. Power may be from a 7.5 KW electric motor (220 V 3 phase) or an 11 h.p. petrol engine. For air placement, a compressor with either 2.2 KW electric motor or 3 h.p. petrol engine is supplied as optional equipment.
The PC-50a measures 2940 x 1220 x 1170 mm and weighs 650 kg. It can be easily transported on and operated from most pick-up trucks.
TAR SPRAYING
A one-man operated tar spraying machine which uses cold bitumen emulsion and is small enough to be towed behind a light vehicle has been developed by Thomas Coleman & Sons Ltd., Alfreton Road, Derby, UK.
It has a 58 gallon (264 litres) hori- zontally mounted cylindrical tank which is dished at both ends and incor- porates sludge cleaning door and ample inspection facilities. The tank is tested to 150 lb./sq.in., while working pressure is 50 lb. sq. in.
