trim guide which extends slightly beneath the base. With this guide it is not necessary to pull stock out past the edge of the worktable to provide clearance. It allows 4 in. stock to be 'stacked' and trimmed flat on the worktable.
A push-button shaft lock enables bit changes to be made with one wrench. The trimmer is supplied with a combination flush and bevel bit of solid carbide. Also available is a kit that enables the trimmer to be used as a compact router. The 4 h.p. motor is rated at 5.5 amps., 30,000 r.p.m. and operates on 115 V and 220/240 AC- DC.
The Stanley Works, New Britain, Connecticut, USA, are the makers.
LIGHTING FITTINGS
A new range of lighting fittings called Crompack 3, which combines be simply cut with a trowel. A coil is metric and imperial fixing centres, is unrolled by the bricklayer, as required, being marketed by Crompton Parkin- and joining is done by overlapping son Ltd., Aldwych, London, W.C.2, about 100 mm. The widths of 110 mm for commercial and industrial use. to 450 mm match construction mate-
rials according to either metric or imperial standards.
LAMINATES TRIMMER
Easy and accurate operation with one hand is possible with a new power timmer for plastic laminates. The Stanley 91263 laminate trimmer is

Easily fitted into new or existing in- stallations, the new fitting incorporates a modern square section channel and diffuser end-plates of similar design.
The fitting can be close ceiling or pendant mounted and supplied either as a batten or with a selection of dif- fusers or metal reflectors. The plastic end-plates have end-to-end interlock- ing features in the form of alignment lugs and sockets; these facilitate lining up when close-coupled in continuously mounted installations.
By means of a Visi-foil attachment, close-coupled mounting of diffusers can be achieved without the use of comparatively wide coupling strips at the joints. The thin Visi-foil, which clips in positively between the batten end-plates, provides a neat and unob- trusive joint. Joints can also be cover- ed by reflector couplers when con- tinuously mounted reflectors are used.
Single or twin lamp units are avail- able in 2, 4, 5, 6 and 8ft. lengths. Switchstart gear is standard except in
the 6 ft. models which are semi-re- sonant quickstart.
The grey plastic end-plates cover the metal edge at the channel ends and have knock-outs to facilitate end entry wiring. Provision is made for auto- matic earth continuity by means of a special spring metal contact.
LIGHTING ALARM
The Dual-Lite Co., a division of The Soundscriber Corp., Newtown, Conn., USA, have developed a moni- toring device to assure that battery- operated emergency lighting products and systems are always in working order.
In wet battery installations, the instant the electrolyte level drops be- low the probe fingers, the solid state

sensor activates a flashing light. It will also automatically shut the battery charger off when the electrolyte level reaches the refill point to prevent damage to the battery.
The Dual-Lite Monalarm is geared to monitor a number of batteries in a group or, in the most critical emer- gency lighting systems, several cells in the same battery may be monitored.
BATHROOM VENTILATOR
A timed ventilator for bathrooms, known as the Delaymatic, has been developed by Channel Electronics (Sussex) Ltd., 2 Fitzgerald Avenue, Seaford, Sussex, UK.
When wired in conjunction with an extractor fan and the room light, the Delaymatic allows the fan to over-run for a predetermined time after the room light has been switched off. The timing period is variable up to 30 minutes and is pre-set by the installer.
The unit measures 147 mm x 87 mm x 40 mm (5% in. x 31⁄2 in. x 11⁄21⁄2 in.) and weighs 0.283 kg (10 oz.). It is housed in an ivory plastic case. Both surface and flush versions are available.
It is possible to control any num- ber of fans (up to 5 amps total load) by wiring in parallel. In addition, the timer can be activated by a number of switches.
