If it's a producer, 5 of our companies can get into the act.
The petroleum industry is typical of the many process industries ITT supplies.
Five ITT companies in the U.S. and Europe make or service what is needed. This includes valves, pumps, heat ex- changers, actuators, flow tubes, meters and recorders, as well as microwave communications systems.
Once out of the wellhead, petroleum takes a long trip. All along the way-
from pipeline to refinery to customer-
ITT devices and equipment meter, meas- ure, pump and control the petroleum and its by-products,
These devices and equipment are known by such brand names as Barton, General Controls, Hammel-Dahl, Henze, Marlow, Bell & Gossett.
ITT microwave systems are used for voice, data, telemetry and supervisory- control transmissions along pipelines, from offshore rigs and remote sites.
ITT's broad-range capability for the growing needs of the process industries stretches into hundreds of fields-wher- ever raw material is processed into a finished product.

CRAWLER TRACTOR
Double-reduction Drives Produce 14,100 lb. Pull
THE double - reduction planetary drives on the International TD-8, 82-
series Bullgrader crawler tractor give it a maximum draw-bar pull of 14,100 lb. Torque is kept low in the gear- box and the other drive-train com- ponents. and is multiplied at the sprocket.
The TD-8 has a four-cylinder diesel engine developing 60 h.p. at the fly- wheel at 1,600 r.p.m., and producing its maximum torque of 220 lb. ft. at 1,200 r.p.m.
Indirect injection through pintle- type nozzles to a swirl chamber in the cylinder head gives a thorough mixing of air and fuel prior to ignition, thereby reducing carbonisation and consequent servicing; lubrication is by a forcible-feed system to all shell bearings and the timing train. Drive from the engine is taken through a 13 in, diameter single-plate over-centre clutch to a sliding-gear transmission. giving four forward speeds up to 4.66 m.p.h. and two reverse speeds of 1.68 and 2.75 m.p.h.
The tractor has an oscillating track frame, with five rollers, that places 7534 in. of track on the ground: the track gauge is 54 in. and the standard shoe width 14 in. The Bullgrader fit- ting has a 9 ft. 5 in. wide blade, with a maximum lift of 2 ft. 61⁄2 in. above the track line and a drop of 1 ft. 2% in. below it: the blade can also be angled up to 25 deg, to either side.
