Inc., North Quincy, Mass., USA, De- signated the H100 series, the models are available with either one. two. three or four lamps in white, amber, green or red.

The light is mounted in a single- gang outlet box and the rectangular frosted plastic dome is in a single- gang device plate of satin finish stain- less steel. Lamps supplied with the corridor lights are 24 volt AC with average life expectancy of 5.000 hours. A lamp-separating barrier in the plastic lens eliminates the possibi- lity of cross-lighting by an adjacent lamp.

In hospitals or commercial build- ings the lights may be lettered and mounted horizontally over doors.

plastic membrane. The process is called reverse osmosis. The mem- brane acts as a barrier to corrupting elements but allows purified water to pass through.

FILTER

Silo-mounted Unit Removes Dust Particles

WHEN installed in the top of a storage container or silo, the Airvent

filter unit purges dust from the air displaced during filling. It can be used with a variety of products, in- cluding cement and chalk, and is claimed to remove particles down to 0.5 microns in size.

The filter units are produced in five sizes, with filter areas from 50 to 375 sq. ft.

Each comprises a 14-g. m.s. casing, ranging in size from 2 ft. square by 2 ft. 6 in. high to 5 ft. by 3 ft. by 6 ft., having a metal weather- cowl on the top and an open base.

Inside the casing, a length of Tery- lene filter fabric is suspended from a

Airvent filter unit

metal frame in a series of deep folds to provide the maximum filter area. Dust-laden air passes upwards through the filter, depositing the dust on the cloth, and is released round the sides of the cowl.

Once filling is completed and air is no longer passing through the filter. a 12 h.p. shaker motor, mounted on blocks on a platform above the filter supports, can be actuated either by a pressure switch or from the filling control panel. Exchanging the filter cloth can be carried out through an access door on the front of the filter unit.

LIGHTING CONTROL

Device Varies Lighting Level from Dim to Full On

WHEN wired into a lighting circuit, an electronic dimming device produc- ed by Photain Controls, Ltd.. Leather- head. Surrey, UK, can vary the light- ing level from 12 per cent. of its max- imum capacity to full on at the turn of a knob.

Capable of handling any number of lamps up to its maximum rating, the dimmer comes in 300, 500, 1,000 and 1,500 W. versions. It is claimed to save on electrical consumption and to lengthen lamp life.

All four dimmer sizes are housed in standard ivory-coloured switch- boxes, supplied for flush or surface mounting. Each unit incorporates a potentiometer, complete with a posi- tive on off switch, a thyristor to con- trol the current supply, and an R.F. filter to prevent radio or television in- tereference.

The makers are not represented in S.E. Asia.
