ground floor offices is 10 ft, while the upper three floors have a 9 ft. ceiling height. All floors have sus- pended false ceilings of painted soft- board which accommodate air-condi- tioning ducts, electrical wiring, and recessed fluorescent light fittings and A/C supply grilles.

All areas of the building are air- conditioned with the exception of the staircases and vestibules.

Surfaces

The office and corridor floors, the secondary staircase and store are covered with 9 in. x 9 in. vinyl-asbes- tos tiles. The vestibules and main staircase are paved in light coloured precast terrazzo, and the staircase walls are tiled up to 3 ft. height with small blue-green ceramic glazed tiles. All other wall surfaces are plastered and painted.

As the secondary approach road falls steeply away from the main road, the new office extension is approach- ed by an extended covered walkway which runs along the front of the office building and a new car show-

room.

On the ground floor, all front win- dows and sliding doors leading on to the walkway are of aluminium. The walkway is tiled in grey and white mosaic tiles, and the external col- umns to the walkway are tiled in dark grey tiles.

Externally, the infill brick panel walls are finished in a buff-coloured bush-hammered render, and between windows on each elevation are long horizontal bands of deep yellow cera- mic glazed tiles of 14 in. x 3 in. size.

The main fascia at roof level is faced with white mosaic tiles, and all metal window frames are painted white.

The new car showroom is an ex- tension of the existing car showroom which is situated on the ground floor of Denmark House, fronting Ampang Road.

Mosaic Tiles

Roofing of the new showroom is Brownbuilt sheets on steel purlins and main trussed beams which span 48 ft., thus giving a column-free in- terior. Flooring consists of multi- coloured Japanese mosaic tiles, from which oil may be easily cleaned.

The showroom is closed off from the walkway by means of three al- uminium roller shutters, each 15 ft. wide.

The office building and car show- room was completed in under 12 months by Chan & Chua Construc- tion, Kuala Lumpur, at a cost of M$850,000.
