CRAWLER LOADER

The new 2 cu.yd. 12G Series B crawler loader introduced by Allis- Chalmers Construction Machinery Division, Springfield, Ill., USA, has a greater productive capacity.

ment. A more positive track adjuster and release mechanism, heavier track links and stronger idler mounting bra- ckets also lengthen undercarriage com- ponent life.

Tandem pumps provide hydraulic power to the lift and dump circuits. Stacked-type, multi-spool valves per- mit attachments to be added without replacing the complete valve assembly. The tank has a sight gauge for check-

A 195 flywheel hp turbo-charged diesel engine provides the power. Twin radiators are rear-mounted and ra- diator cores are bolted to the top and

A power shift transmission and loader-matched, single stage torque onverter transmit peak power during loading and top speed for fast cycling and an automatic modulated clutch gives precise, safe control of ground speed at any point in the loading cycle.

Double reduction final drives mini- mize the stress on other drive train components, and efficiently transfer power to segmented sprockets. Four of the seven permanently lubricated track rollers on each side are double flanged to assure constant track align-

A single lever for bucket control and another for transmission control are positioned at the operator's finger- tips. A 6-way adjustable seat and arm rests are fitted in the operator's com- partment.

Three general purpose buckets, a multi-purpose bucket, V-type rock bucket, rock tine bucket, ripper, power winch, logging forks and a wide selection of other attachments are available for the machine.

TRACTOR

A special purpose two-wheel drive tractor, the MF 30, produced by Massey-Ferguson, Ltd., Coventry, UK. is fitted with a Perkins 60 bhp A4.212 diesel engine, an eight-speed gearbox and a square-section axle which incor- porates oil immersed brakes.

Attachments for the tractor in- clude a 3.66 m (12 ft.) digger and 0.48 cu m (5/8 cu.yd.) loader to make it a versatile utility unit.

Standard features are power assist- ed steering, flat top fenders, lights, an industrial clutch, a foot-operated dif- ferential, and heavy-duty linkage and power-take-off. Both drive and steer- ing axles are of heavy duty build. Turning circle is 6.7 m (22 ft.) and maximum road speed is just below 32 kph (20 mph).

CEILING GRINDER

Designed to dry-grind concrete ceil- ings to remove form marks and leave a smooth surface, the CG10 electric ceiling grinder will finish 500 sq. ft. of ceiling an hour. It has a height range of 7 ft. to 11 ft. 3 in.

The unit is manufactured by Stow Manufacturing Co., 627 Shear Street, Binghampton, New York. Standard

equipment includes a 9 in. Stowflex abrasive disc and a 1⁄2 in. flexible shaft. A swivel top allows grinding right up to walls, and the grinder can also be converted to grind walls.

CUSHION TRACK

Development of a cushion track for large wheel loaders has been announ- ced by Caterpillar Far East Ltd., P.O. Box 13069, Hong Kong. Called Dystred, the innovation is designed to meet the problem of high tyre costs on loaders working in severe conditions.

The Dystred cushion track attach- ment consists of four track assemblies, each mounted on an inflated rubber driver. The drivers are not tires, but specially designed pneumatic devices. By varying driver inflation pressure, in- creased traction or flotation can be achieved. The drivers are mounted on special wheel assemblies as an integral part of the arrangement. The driver, track assembly, and the special wheel assembly constitute the Dystred cu-
