as the formation of an elevated road- way on the east side of Lai Chi Kok Bay and road works necessary to serve the completed bridge.

The

A beam and slab type structure. the bridge will have thirteen 93 ft. spans and fifteen 63 ft. spans. beams are to be precast on the ground. prestressed and then erected in position. One of the latest pre- stressing techniques will be employed: the tenderers have been required to nominate which system they will use. In pouring the composite deck slab

use will be made of the precast con- crete planks between the beams, thus a great deal of shuttering will be eliminated.

The beams, which will be simply supported, will rest on reinforced con- crete cross-beams carried by reinforc- ed concrete circular columns founded on piles.

The consulting engineers for the project are Scott & Wilson, Kirk- patrick and Partners. Hong Kong. acting for the Department of Public Works.
