WELDING SET
A lightweight, portable welding set, called the Arcmaster NB, has a welding range of 55-180 amp. at 25 v. a.c. Be-
sides its two welding-cable connections it also has two plug-in sockets for auxi- liary a.c. output, enabling it to be used as as a 5-kW. generator with a dual 120/240 voltage.
The device gives six choices of welding current, obtainable by means of a selector switch. It is possible to use all 1/16-in.-and 5/32-in.-diameter (1.5-mm. and 3.9-mm.) welding rods and most 3/16-in. (4.7-mm.) rods.

Arcmaster NB welding set Power is supplied by a single-cylinder, four-stroke petrol engine, developing 12 b.h.p. at 3,600 r.p.m.
The heavy-duty alternator, coupled directly to the engine crankshaft, has a particularly stable output, permitting a considerable variation in arc length. The welder is available with either a
manual pull-rope starter or a 12-v. starter motor and 12-v. battery. Charg- ing for the starter battery is automatic, with a charging output of 1.5 amp.
Weighing 280 lb. (127 kg.) with manual start and 500 lb. (227 kg.) with the electric starter, the Arcmaster NB measures 24 in. high by 23 in. wide by 30% in. long (610 by 584 by 781 mm.)
