WOOD PRESERVATIVES

Two new solvent wood preservative fluids for use in dipping tanks and deluging machines both contain as their active ingredient a chemical found to be highly effective against wood-destroying fungi. The chemical, tributyltin-oxide, is non-crystalline and, when treated and dried timber is painted, poses no risk of damage to the paint film through leaching or bloom.

One of the two fluids is funda- mentally a fungicidal solution for the treatment of exterior timber such as window joinery. The other contains ingredients which protect against in- sects as well as fungi, and is suitable for treating all other timbers such as carcassing, skirting and floor boards..

Both solvents, known as Pre-Treat and Pre-Treat Super, achieve high penetration and a balanced drying rate.
