The 14-storey building measures 76ft. by 200ft. on plan and rises 210ft. above road level. The areas al- located for both the batching and packing plants were limited to 24ft. by 30ft. in order to provide maximum rentable storage area on the floors which they occupy.

The batching plant is situated on the west side of the building between the first and eighth floors, with silos between the fourth and eighth floors. On the east side of the building, the packing plant occupies the same floors.

Rentable areas are between the second and 12th floors and comprise both storage and light industrial areas. Two pedestal cranes handle material between the first and fifth floors, and four cargo lifts of 7,000lb. capacity operate between the basement and the fourth and tenth floors. The Green Island head office is on the 13th floor.

This new development provides Green Island with an increase in turn- over and greatly improved distribution facilities, since it obviates journeys across the harbour from their Kow- loon plant.

The packing plant will produce up to 3,000 bags an hour and the batch- ing plant can produce 180 cu.yd. an hour. For truck access at ground floor level, the building has an open span of 70ft. on the waterfront road. In ad- dition a 20ft. wide clearway along the length of the building gives alternative access from a less busy roadway at the opposite end of the building.
