CAPABLE OF handling large boulders and irregular slabs of rocks, the Nor- ton rock grapple excavator attachment consists of four parallel jaws tied in pairs by substantial tubular cross- braces. Three standard sizes are available: up to 2 tons, 3-5 tons and 6-8 tons.

Crawler Unit With Separate Rotation Drifters
THE Le Roi Division of Westing- house Air Brake Co., Sidney, Ohio, USA, has produced a new Trac-New- matic crawler drill rig which features separate rotation drifters.

These drifters, which are said to drill faster and use less air, are available in 4in. and 41⁄2 in. size. They are mounted on a drill carrier with a low centre of gravity and there are no exposed working parts, ex- cept the drill steel.
The feed shell is of heavy steel channels. The heavy hinged type centralizer has protective steel bush- ings. Tracks are long and have five rollers.
A piston feed motor and Einco 10 h.p. tramming motors are fitted. Brakes act automatically when the tramming motors are shut off. Large hydraulic cylinders provide rapid positioning and check valves ensure safe operation.

This new wide-tread, track-type trencher provides instant forward/reverse and utilizes permanently multi-disc clutches in both the propulsion and digging chain drives sealed and running in oil. Known as the Task Force 1000, it trenches from 6 in. to 24 in. wide at infinitely variable speeds from 0 to 15 ft. per minute in low range, 10 to 25 ft. per minute in high range. Attachments for the machine include a back- hoe, a 60 in. dozer blade, and a hydraulic borer.
