Atlas 5000 forry-mounted crane
LORRY LOADER Telescopic Jib Will Lift 6 tons
THE Atlas 5000 fully hydraulic crane has been designed for mounting on lorries with minimum dead weights of from 61⁄2 to 9 tons, on which it develops corresponding lifting capaci- ties from 5 to a maximum of 611⁄2 tons.
A built-in telescopic extension increases the normal 18 ft. 9 in. jib length to 23 ft.
When folded for travelling and resting in a horizontal position, the jib of the 5000 measures 12 ft. long and stands 8 ft. above the lorry base. In operation. its hydraulic system requires a 20 to 25 h.p. power source 10 pump 1 gal. at 2,000 or 2.620 p.s.i.
Maximum lifting height above the base, with the telescopic arm extend- ed, is 28 ft. 5 in. If required, boom extensions can be supplied to increase the jib reach to 26 ft. 4 in.. 29 ft. 7 in, or a maximum of 32 ft. 11 in.. where the lifting capacity is 14 tons.
The manufacturers are H. Wey- hausen KG. Delmenhorst, West Ger- many. They state that they are most interested in exporting to S.E. Asia but have no appointed agents.
CRAWLER TRACTOR Transmission Gives Full Power During Turning
THE International Harvester Export Co.. 180 North Michigan Avenue. Chicago, Ill. USA, are now marketing a 230 h.p. crawler tractor, the TD- 25B.
It has heavy-duty powershift trans- mission and planetary steering, which gives full power while turning in any direction. The machine is powered by a DT1817 direct-starting, six- cylinder diesel.
The TD-25 is driven from an 18- in. single-stage Rockford torque-con- verter by a double universal-joint shaft. It has four forward (2.6-7,1 m.p.h.) and four reverse (3.2-8.3 m.p.h.) speeds, the clutches being mounted close together on separate shafts. Each clutch contains two packs one each for first and sec- ond speeds and by directing hy-

draulic pressure to one or other of them a speed range is obtained which, in conjunction with the torque con- verter and planetary steering, gives maximum working torque at all con- ditions of ground speed and load. The engine develops 230 h.p. at 1.600 r.p.m.. giving a maximum drawbar pull of 55,000 lb. at 80 f.p.m.

Two sets of planetary gears for each track are located on both sides of the bevel gear and pinion. Power is transferred from the bevel gear through the planetary gear to one of three discs, giving a high speed range. low speed range and pivot brake respectively. The discs are hydraulically actuated from a nitrogen accumulator mounted under the op- erator's deck, and control is by two levers.
The overall length is 16 ft. 91⁄2 in.. width 8 ft. 8 in.. height (excluding ex- haust pipe) 8 ft. 44 in., and mini- mum ground clearance 1 ft. 5 in. The track centre gauge is 6 ft. 8 in., track shoes are 2 ft. 2 in. wide (42 shoes per track) and the length of track in contact with the ground is 9 ft. 10 in. Total operating weight with a full tank is 49,100 lb. (59,360 lb. includ- ing Bullgrader blade).

THE 507H-1, а four-stroke small capacity air-cooled engine, manufac- tured in both the Villiers and J.A.P. ranges. has a capacity of 75 c.c., a continuous power rating of from 1 h.p. at 2,500 r.p.m. to 1.2 h.p. at 3,500 r.p.m., and a torque curve which remains constant at 2.2 lb./ft. over most of the recommended power ranges.
Constructed entirely of light alloys. it weighs only 17 lb., fully equipped with
fuel tank, carburettor and silencer.

Engines are available in a variety of models. There are four different types of crankshaft ends and a choice. of plain or ball main bearings. Where plain bearings are fitted, engines can be supplied with either an air vane or a mechanical governor, but all models with ball main bearings come equipped with a mechanical governor. There is a selection of constant-speed. remote or all-speed control, and the option of either rope-and-pulley or recoil starting.
