chikok. Kowloon, Hong Kong, formerly the site of a Mobil Oil depot. is being developed as largest privately sponsored housing project in South East Asia.
Some 60,000 to 80,000 people will be housed in 12,000 to 15,000 flats at a construction cost of more than HK$400 million.
The project, com- prising groups of 20- storey tower blocks of a repetitive cruciform design, will be man- aged by Mei Foo In- vestments. Ltd., Hong Kong, an affiliate of Mobil Oil Corpora- tion. Also involved in both the investment and the development will be Turner Con- struction Co., one of America's largest building firms, who will manage and co- ordinate the construc- tion programme, and Galbreath - Ruffin Согр., а real estate organisation who, it is stated, will supervise the planning. The ar- chitects are Wong & Tung & Associates. Hong Kong.
The site lies on level land between the Kowloon Hills and Hong Kong Harbour and is at the western
