Observations

To start the programme you must always press 'A V' to locate the point in the programme to start recording.

Here, the computer is asked to stop and wait for the entry to register ‘M'. This entry will be the no. of times the dimension is to be cubed, normally found in a timesing column of the taking off. The letter 'n' is being placed to show that the no. of times has al- ready been entered into the 'M' regis- ter.

This'' sign means the copying of 'n' into register 'A'.

Here, the computer is asked to stop to take in the 2nd constant which is the length '1'. 'I therefore enters the 'M' register whereas 'n' remains in 'A' regis-

ter.

Here, the computer is asked to multi- ply 'T' with 'n' and get the answer in register 'A'. Therefore, whereas '1' re- mains in register 'M' the register 'A' will have the answer 'nl'.·

The computer is asked to stop again to take in another constant which is the width 'w'. 'w' now enters 'M' register wiping out 'l' but 'nl' is still in 'A' regis-

ter.

Here the computer is asked to multiply 'w' with 'n' and put the answer in register 'A'. The answer 'nlw' therefore appears in register ‘A'.

This time the computer is asked to stop so that the last constant i.e. the height or thickness 'h' can be entered into the 'M' register. 'h', therefore ap- pears in the 'M' register whereas 'nlw' remains in the 'A' register.

The 'X' sign will instruct the computer to multiply the figures stored in register 'M' with the figures stored in register 'A' thus producing the answer 'nlwh' in register 'A'.

This sign 'A' means that the computer is asked to print out the answer in re- gister 'A'. This answer will be the answer in cubic feet of the squared cube item.
