It will be noted that the input is being printed with an 'S' mark on the side and the output printed with a '0' sign. The first answer indicated by ‘A◊' gives the sq. ft. of the dimensions enter- ed into, the second printed answer in- dicated by 'b', gives the accumulated answer in sq. ft. and the third answer indicated by another 'A' gives the accumulated total in sq. yd.

The accumulated answer in the ex- ample in sq. yards will therefore be 997.3333 as indicated by the accumu- lated answer just before 'W'. 'W' is entered to clear all accumulated totals from the memory so that another set of dimensions for another item of squaring can be entered by the opera-

tor.

Programmes for reinforced concrete work

There are three more programmes for the working of reinforced concrete and formwork in beams, slabs and columns. Here, the operator needs to enter four constants in the following order:.

For beams:

'N' is total number of beams 'x' is depth of beam 'Y' is width of beam 'L' is length of beam For slabs:

'N' is the no. of slabs

'L' is length of slab

'B' is width of slab

't' is thickness of slab

For columns:

'N' is the no. of columns

"L'

'B'

}

are the sectional dimensions of columns

'H' is the height of column. The taker-off's entry will be as Fig. 3.

The printed answer for each of the three programmes in Fig. 3. will give immediately the volume of reinforced concrete in cu. yd. and the area of formwork in sq. yd. It will also give immediately the accumulated totals of
