A team of four men can erect the walls and the floors. Another team of three men erect the outer wall ele-
ments. These seven men mount the structure of a 56 flat block in six weeks. To the two teams should be added plumbers, electricians, painters. carpenters, installation and finishing workers.
The building time for a nine-storey block at Bollmora, consisting of 56 flats to the highest Swedish standard and an average area of 70 cu. metres was 83 working days, from the set- ting of the foundation beams to the moment when the tenants moved in. This makes a working time of 2.5 hours per cu. metre, all work in fac- tory and site included, or 6 minutes per cu. metre loadbearing construc- tion.
Lightweight System
Skarne also offer a lightweight sys- tem that can be used for the construc- tion of all types of housing from pri- vate houses to multi-storey apartment blocks.
On multi-storey buildings the base- ment is built by conventional methods, Then follows the installation of a slide form and, firmly connected to it. a tower crane. The slide form em- braces the stair well and elevator shaft in the centre of the building. This core serves as the most important static component of the building, and efficiently stabilises the building.
The slide form is raised at a rate of about 25 cm, per hour. A few days after the core has reached its full height, the crane can be put into operation. After the completion of the core the prefabricated stairs are

installed, and are used during the en- tire period of construction,
In the case of a block with several staircases, several cores are needed and the central core of the staircase is cast in situ, storey by storey, against a steel-shutter. The form for the floor slab is built in the conventional way by using standardised plywood panels. Between them the crane lowers the precast load bearing concrete ele-
ments.
The storey-high concrete wall ele- ments are between 10 and 18 cm. thickness, and I m. width. They pro- ject about 2 cm. above the floor slab form, to ensure that they will be
