Automatic Press Makes Fifty Slabs per hour
INTRODUCED from Denmark, the hydraulically-operated Type 900 Re- cord Slab Press has an output of up to 50 blocks per hour and requires only one operator. He needs only to place in new pallets and remove the completed slabs.
Powered by an electric motor, the Type 900 measures 14 ft. long by 9 ft. wide and will produce blocks up to 36 in. by 24 in. by 4 in. It incor- porates two filling boxes above the mould, one to contain the back mix and a second for the face mix. The rear hopper operates first, partially filling the mould with the back mix, after which the casing moves on to receive the face mix, the depth of which is adjustable.
Compaction is achieved by vibra- tion from a top pressure plate. The mould is hydraulically pressed against the plate which moves back and forth, smoothing the mixture off during the vibratory process.
A standard model which requires the operator to pull a lever for each of the different stages, produces blocks to a maximum size of 30 in. by 24 in.
The machine is being marketed by Cornelly Equipment Ltd., Aptcorn House, 49-59 Gough Street, London. W.C.1, who have no appointed agents in S.E. Asia.

Redesigned 600 c.f.m. Model from WABCO
THE Le Roi Division, Westinghouse Air Brake Co. (WABCO), Sidney, Ohio, USA, has introduced a rede- signed 600 c.f.m. rotary portable compressor featuring the GM 6V-71 diesel engine. This engine is provid- ed with a deep sump as standard equipment for use when out-of-level operation is necessary.
The compressor is 11ft. 8in. long and weighs 7,420 lb. Nothing pro- trudes below the frame, except the running gear, for high ground clear- ance over rough jobsites. A spring loaded tow eye eases travel strains on both the compressor and the tow- ing vehicle, and
a lifting bail is standard.

CABLE PLOUGH Shank Has Free Swing Through 40 Degrees
A NEW cable layer, model CLR- D4C, from American Tractor Equip- ment Corp., 9131 San Leandro Street, Oakland, California, USA, is designed for use on Caterpillar D4C tractors.
It features a heavy-duty tool beam. twin lifting cylinders, special shank pitch adjusting cylinnder, roller fair- leads and cable tube roller guides.
Freedom of movement between the tractor and the cable plow is provided by a swing bracket which permits free swing of the shank through an arc of 40 degrees. A front mounted hydraulic reel carrier results in well-balanced load distribution on the tracks for easier steering and longer track life.

FLUSH edge rolling and an 18 kerb clearance is provided by the ex- tended roll on the new Model VR- 30RE Essick vibrating tandem roller.
The machine develops 94 tons compaction force per second and can roll close to kerbs and obstructions, so eliminating hand tamping.
A
dual purpose transmission is featured with the vibrator clutch mounted on a special output shaft which cuts maintenance and service expense. The 25 gallon water tank is bolted on and is removeable to provide easy cleaning and flushing. Automotive type worm gear steering provides smooth operation.
Above 181⁄2 in. the kerb clearance is 14 in. Cocoa mats, scraper blades. and a sprinkler bar system are standard equipment on both the guide roll and compaction roll. A self-
