AIRLESS SPRAY

Thick Film Obtained With One Coat

MORE Control in spraying and the application of a thicker film in one coat are two advantages claimed for an airless spray outfit developed by Iwata Air Compressor Manufactur- ing Co., Ltd., 1-6 Ebishu-Minami, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo. Loss of paint is said to be considerably less than with air spray units.

The paint pump is operated by an air motor from a 70 p.s.i. supply. It compresses the paint which is then led to a paint chamber. This system prevents pulsations in the output of the gun.

Maximum output is 86 cu. in. a minute and maximum pressure 1,960 p.s.i. The paint container holds 6.6 gals, and the total weight of the unit is 73 lb. Power requirements

Security in the joint is ensured by stainless steel spring clips positioned at 18 in. centres. The heads of the clips engage in the flanges of the coverstrip and their spring legs anchor on to the sides of the joint, adjust ing themselves to any variation the joint width and holding the cover- strip snugly against the wall surface. MOISTURE METER Electronic Device Tests Concrete Blocks

AN ELECTRONIC instrument for test- ing the moisture content of concrete blocks in less than 30 seconds is being marketed by Soiltest, Inc., 2205 Lee Street, Evanston, Illinois, USA.

The transistorized, battery-operated device is called the CT-605 concrete moisture register. Using a stainless steel electrode, the unit can make a non-destructive test оп coarse or smooth finish concrete blocks with- out marring them.

Readings are indicated on a direct reading dial which allows determina- tion of moisture content expressed as a percentage of absorption.

Soiltest representatives are Benitez and Co., Inc., Manila: International Engineering Co., Bangkok: and William Jacks and Co., Ltd., Hong Kong.

WALL CHANNELLER Cuts Grooves for Pipes and Fitments

CONCRETE PRODUCTS Release Agent Prevents Bonding

for

TWO chemical release fluids concrete a bond breaker and a softener have been developed by T.B. Hampton (Australia) Pty., Ltd., 3 Short Street, Chatswood, NSW.

The bond breaker reacts chemical- ly with the alkali in the concrete to produce a release agent.

This pre- vents bonding between the poured concrete and the form.

The softener, sprayed on to the interior of mixers and other concrete handling equipment, prevents residue from hardening and bonding to metal.
